The Science of Sound - Benefits of Sound and Vibration

Becc Gray

Sound is quickly becoming a popular part of today’s wellness industry but very few people know what the benefits actually are.

Vibration enhances the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and speeds removal of metabolic waste. Whole body vibration (WBV) devices are used in developing bone and muscle strength and studies show vibration applied to the body increases blood circulation, greater flow of blood to the heart, kidneys, stomach, and brain.

Vibration increases the production of antioxidant properties in the body and decreases the impacts of autoimmune illness. In addition, studies have found a decrease in disease conditions linked to oxidative stress including Cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Diabetes and Cardiovascular conditions like high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, and stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and chronic musculoskeletal pain.

When the body’s cells detect vibration there are visible improvements in cognitive movement, skin, muscles (spindles), tendons (Golgi tendon organs), joints, nerves, spinal cord function including posture, and clearing of the pathways of the central nervous system.

Sound and Vibration impact and activate the vagus nerve which serves as a major parasympathetic (efferent) component of the autonomic nervous system and transmits sensory information from much of the body to the brain . It plays a key role in cardiac and gastrointestinal function, in muscle control of mouth and throat, in the neuroendocrine-immune system, and in the regulation of emotion including anxiety and depression Motor control, neurological disorders, enhance corticospinal cell connectivity to spinal motor neurons.

Sound and Vibration are at the heart of all of my teachings and are offered in a variety of ways some of which include:

  • Weekly Yoga of Sound and Vibration

  • Monthly Sound Healing Meditation

  • Private one on one Sound Healing Body Work

  • Private small group Sound Healing Meditation (4-7ppl)

  • Sound Healing Workshops

THURSDAY EVENING YOGA OF SOUND AND VIBRATION

In this weekly practice we bring together steadiness and ease by linking movement and breath in continuous flow. The practice heightens our receptivity to the bodies subtle energy in preparation for restorative and restful yin postures that are accompanied by the sound and vibration of Nepalese Signing Bowls.

MONTHLY SOUND HEALING - REST - RESTORE – REALIGN

The atoms within the body vibrate and sound frequency impacts our sympathetic nervous system causing brain waves to synchronise. Sound healing restores the natural vibration of the human body.

In this special monthly event you are placed in restorative postures while connecting to the body through the sound and vibration of Nepalese singing bowls followed by a deep and peaceful journey through sound and space with crystal singing bowls.
